“Learning is not attained by chance. It must be sought for with ardour and attended to with diligence.- Abigail Adams.

Overview

Youthreach GalwayYOUTHREACH is an integral part of the national programme of second-chance education and training in Ireland and is a central part of the Government's contribution to the achievement of a lifelong learning society.

The programme is directed at unemployed young early school leavers aged 15-20 years. It offers participants the opportunity to identify and pursue viable options within adult life, and provides them with opportunities to acquire certification. It operates on a full-time, year-round basis.
The process involves a considerable amount of personal development and exploration, identification of needs, interests and capacities, sampling of general vocational skills, development of specific aptitudes, work experience, literacy and numeracy development.
The centres are distributed throughout the country, in disadvantaged areas. While YOUTHREACH is a national programme, centres are managed locally, and programmes reflect the particular social, economic and cultural environment in which they operate. This local management is a pillar of the programme in design and operation. Although all Centres are alike, no two are the same.
Innovation and partnership are encouraged throughout the system, as are enterprise links.
