Overview of Service / Programmes & Certification Offered:

The core business of the Centre is the Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme (V.T.O.S), which provides 2 years full-time education for unemployed adults.

 

Subjects on offer:

  • FETAC Business Studies BBSXX:

    • Information Technology (Level 4)
    • Computer Applications (Level 4)
    • Database Methods
    • Word processing
    • Text Production
    • Payroll
    • Bookkeeping
  • Organic farming
  • Knitting
  • Weaving
  • Embroidery
  • Painting
  • Combined Materials
  • Drawing
  • Community Arts

Part time/evening courses:

  • Childcare Level 5
  • ECDL
  • Beginners Computers
  • Safety at Sea in conjunction with Bord Iascaigh Mhara

All FETAC courses are provided at Level 5 unless otherwise stated.
We provide ECDL programmes.
We also provide an ongoing career guidance service.

 

Target Group / Eligibility:

  • Target Group:  Unemployed adults over 21 years who are in receipt of social welfare payment for more than 6 months.
  • Payments equal to your Social Welfare benefits plus €31.80 allowance if more than 312 days on Unemployment Assistance, Unemployment Benefit, Disability Benefit Allowance or one Parent Allowance.

 

How much does it Cost?

The VTOS courses are free as they are provided by County Galway VEC on behalf of the Department of Education & Science.

 

Resources & Expertise Available:

  • Resources & Expertise Available: Up-to-date computer facilities, classrooms.
  • Highly qualified teaching staff, including qualified literacy tutors.
  • Guidance counsellor available to all.

Self-financing classes are run on a demand basis
Programmes are assessed by FETAC (Levels 3-5), E.C.D.L., & City & Guilds
The Centre is linked to Co Galway V.E.C. Adult Literacy Service

9.30-4.00 (Mon-Fri), Sept-June (inclusive)
